Flights to Tripoli
Many international airlines fly to Tripoli on a regular basis and you can take your pick from: British Airways, Emirates, Air Qatar, KLM, Alitalia, Air Malta, Austrian, Libya Arab Airlines, Lufthansa, Royal Air Maroc, KLM, Swissair, Afriqiyah Airways, Tunisair, Turkish Airlines, Royal Air Jordanian, Egyptair, Syrian Airlines and Saudia.
It is up to participants to book their own flights.
In Tripoli it is common use the taxi, easily recognized. The cost for single trip is between 3 and 5 LD
Registration of your passport
It is mandatory that when you are in Libya, you need to register your passport with the immigration authorities. This service is provided automatically by the Corinthia Bab Africa Hotel, however in the other hotels, it is NOT! The other hotels usually provide the service and it costs approximately 15LD If you do not do this, you could be fined on departure from the country.
Airport transfer
Please note that if you require airport transfer on arrival and departure this can be arranged for a small cost. A form to fill in will be sent to you via the participant’s manual and we would be delighted to arrange this for you.
What should I bring with me to Tripoli?
A photocopy of your passport – as it is always advisory to carry your ID with you
Insurance – you are responsible for arranging your own travel cover
Credit card – Credit cards especially Visa are accepted at the main hotels and some restaurants. Cash points can be found in some hotels.
Medical Kit – always a good option just in case
Your mobile phone – most international networks can pick up the local ones in Libya.
A smile – things do take longer sometimes but people are genuinely kind in Libya, a smile goes a long way!
Do not bring: alcohol, as it is banned in Libya.
Sun block or sun tan lotion – the sunshine is likely to be strong so it is advisable to protect yourself.
A light waterproof jacket just in case it rains.
What currency do they use in Libya?
The currency of Libya is the Libyan Dinar which comes in notes of 20, 10, 5, 1, 0.5 and 0.25 LD’s. Hotels, foreign exchange bureaux and banks will change all international and Middle Eastern currencies.
What will the weather be like in Tripoli?
October is a hot to mild month of the year in Tripoli, with average minimum temperatures of 18 C and an average daily maximum of 27 C. There are on average seven hours of sunshine per day, during this period. It is also can be a little rainy with on average of five days of rainfall in total throughout the month.
What voltage is used?
If you are taking any electronic items to Libya, the voltage requirement is 220-40V. Do not forget to bring an international travel adaptor, as there various types of plug sockets.

Arabic is the official language, but Italian and English are spoken in major cities. Regional variations of Berber are found in select areas.
