“Current Exploration Opportunities and
Future Oil & Gas Projects Development Plans”

Call for Papers

The fourth biennial forum and exhibition TOG2008 will take place on 21-23 October 2008 in Tripoli, Libya. This scientific event is organized by the Libyan Petroleum Institute (LPI), supported by the National Oil Corporation of Libya (NOC) and sponsored by numerous key stakeholders from oil industry.

Following the success of previous conferences, TOG2008 will be an open forum for the presentation and discussion of recent advances in technology and scientific topics relevant to both upstream & downstream of oil and gas industry and based on current exploration opportunities and future development plans of oil & gas projects.

TOG2008 is a three-day gathering, open to all interested participants and will provide opportunities for academics and industrialists to present their successful technological endeavors in a friendly atmosphere that usually typifies TOG conferences. The programme will include keynote speakers, contributed plenary presentations, paper presentations, company and product shows, workshops, round tables, side meetings, poster presentations, vendor exhibition, field trips and sight-seeing.

Important Dates

31 Aug. 2008: Deadline for submission of abstracts and poster presentations

20 Oct. 2008: Deadline for submission of full text of accepted papers

Instructions for Authors

Please follow carefully all instructions below in order toachieve the appearance of the abstract and full paper text.

Abstract: .The abstract should contain most relevant information and must not exceed two pages. Abstracts should be submitted to  scommtog@libyatog.com

Full Paper Text: The length of a full text including figures and tables should not exceed 20 pages. The first page should start with a title of the paper, the names of the author(s) in proper sequence (without titles or academic degrees), the affiliation address (university, institution, company), and contacts (telephone, fax, e-mail, website).

Full texts are required for both lectures and posters. If the full text is not received by the deadline, the final summary will be used instead.
The full text must be prepared in MS Word (*.doc or *.rtf file). Use only standard fonts Times New Roman recommended. Figures and tables should be placed within the body of the text. Please do not draw figures directly using the Word editor since such figures may become distorted. Alternatively it is possible to submit the full text in PDF format (with fonts embedded in the document), or as a postscript file. This format preserves the exact appearance of the page. To create a postscript file (e.g. in Windows) you must install a postscript printer driver. Keep in mind that the text is stored in a vector form when the text is exported into such a file (type 1 font, not in bitmap form). If you have figures in colour, use a colour postscript driver.
The full text should be submitted preferably in electronic form to this address: scommtog@libyatog.com  as an attachment. It may also be sent on a CD/diskette; hard copy will not be accepted.

How to prepare the abstract and full paper text: The abstract must be prepared on a sheet of A4 size (297x210 mm) with all margins equal to 25 mm. The single spaced text should be typed preferably in Times New Roman font with use of the Microsoft Word editor (any version). The PostScript (type 1 font), RTF, or PDF formats are also acceptable.

Start at the top of the page with the title of your contribution (font size 14 pt., bold, left aligned). Skip two lines below the title and type the authors’ name(s) in the following order: initial(s), surname (font size 12 pt., left aligned). Underline the name of the author delivering the paper. On a next line, enter the affiliation of each author with full postal address; telephone, fax, and e-mail connections are desirable (12 pt., left aligned). Example:
Title of paper
M. Baki, A. Dardour, A. Ali
Libyan Petroleum Institute, Exploration Dept.
Gahrgersh Rd. 7 Km, Tripoli, Libya
Tel: +218 21 4836821
Email: mbaki@lpilibya.org

Then skip two lines and begin your abstract text (12 pt., justified). Font size 12 pt. is mandatory since the abstract will be reduced to half size (A5 format) for a hard copy booklet, “book of abstracts”. Hence, a smaller font may not be legible. Two pages are allowed for the abstract. You can locate any text, equations, figures, references, etc. within the area available. Avoid photographs because reproduction decreases their quality. Anything in colour will be printed as black and white.

Who Should Attend?

TOG2008 will be beneficial for all executives and technical staff of oil exploration and production companies, technical oil consultancies, research and development personnel, material and equipment suppliers, oil services providers, technology business entrepreneurs, training and education centres, government policymakers, academicians and students.
