(a) nationals of Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia and United Arab Emirates ;
(b) nationals of Jordan and the Syrian Arab Republic, provided arriving from their country of origin

How do I get my visa?

Step 1: Please note that you will need to have your passport translated into Arabic BEFORE applying for your Libyan visa code. Furthermore, this needs to be translated and stamped by an organisation which is accredited by the Libyan Embassy. If you have already had your passport translated into Arabic and accredited, please go to Step 2. If you have NOT then you will have to get your passport translated.

Once you have the Arabic translation, please go to Step 2

Step 2: Please fill in Form 1 with all the relevant information so that we can obtain visa code for the immigration authorities in Libya. It is the visa code that allows you to apply for your visa at the Libyan Embassy. Please fill in Form 1 with a scanned copy of the information page in your passport attached and the scanned copy of your Arabic Translation, preferably by email.

Please note that if you do not hold a passport of the country where you are resident/working you need to send along with your scanned passport, proof of your status ie work permit or residence visa. Please note that the charge is Euros100 for obtaining your visa code.

Step 3: Within fourteen working days, we will receive your visa telex code, which is a unique number that will be sent by the immigration authorities in Tripoli to your local Libyan Embassy (People's Bureau).

Step 4: We will notify you immediately when your visa code has arrived. Please note that the requirements may differ from country to country, so it is advisable to contact your local Libyan Embassy or Consulate for any changes.

NB, do not go to the Embassy unless you have your visa code.

Please note that the visa requirements are liable to change at the last moment, so please make sure you check with your local embassy or consulate for any change or amendments! You may have to go to the Embassy in person to lodge your passport and have your fingerprints scanned.

The required documents to be presented at the embassy are:
Passport, valid 6 months beyond travel with at least two blank pages. An Arabic stamp and translation is required as mentioned before within the passport

  • 1 visa form
  • 4 colour passport photos
  • Telex of authorisation from the Immigration Office in Libya ( we will provide you with the telex number)

  • Hotel Reservation ( you can bring the form for the manual)
  • Last bank statement ( it could be your private one or your company one)
  • The correct visa fee

What happens if there is no Libyan diplomatic representation in my country?

If there is no Libyan representation near to you, then we will be able in extreme case to issue you with a visa on arrival. However, this process can take quite a long time, therefore if this service is required please inform us, no later than six weeks before the event, September 1 2010, so that the necessary arrangements can be made.
